Racing to the finish for #Speedwell

Off to the Museum of Speed today at Pendine Sands, Carmarthenshire, to see 'Babs' the racing car that killed its driver, Parry Thomas, in 1927. Should be interesting. All part of the wonderful adventure of research.

TRIO #FREE little taster for those who fancy dipping a toe into my writing

Trio, my little collection of short stories is #FREE for 5 days, starting today, Saturday 13th June.
It's a little taster for those who fancy dipping a toe into my writing.

A collection of three short stories.

The Pond - A simple story about two boys, a boat and some water.
A Tidy Wife - How early retirement can have unforeseen consequences.
The Wedding Cake - Something magical happens when a spicy anniversary cake is baked.

new review for #Daffodils via #Goodreads http://amzn.to/141yEIG

Well chuffed with this well written review of Daffodils, which I found on Goodreads, quite by chance.
bookshelves: #fiction, # historical-fiction 4*s

"I am driven by characters. A good plot can draw me in, but if the characters don't close the deal, it negatively impacts the entire experience. On the other hand, a weak plot can definitely be salvaged by strong characters. While the backdrop of the First World War limited where the story could go ultimately, I found the characters well defined and well developed. I got lost in Katherine's life and look forward to reading more about her."

Hope this reader continues on to Peace Lily, and in a short while (hopefully!) to Speedwell.

Thought I'd have a go at this author game
This is the first line from Peace Lily, sequel to Daffodils; Speedwell will soon be out, which takes the characters into the 1920s.

New #Book! A collection of short stories called 'Trio'

Proud to announce that I have just clicked the button for 'Publish' for a new book, called 'Trio'.
It's only a little book containing three short stories, none of them linked in anyway.
The first is called 'The Pond' and is a very simple tale of two boys, a boat, and some water.
The second story is called 'The Wedding Cake' and was inspired by a cake I made for my parents, years ago.
The final tale is called 'A Tidy Wife' - a spin on Dylan Thomas's poem but not otherwise connected, though it is set in Wales.

#Daffodils http://amzn.to/19iDLtI http://amzn.to/141yEIG Revised and re-edited - again!

I'm hoping that Daffodils is now squeaky clean for historical accuracy and edited to the best of my ability. I have lost count of the number of times I have re-written this WW1 story. I have to say I quite enjoyed reading it, after such a long break!
